CGL Principal Engineer, Joseph Slattery will be speaking at the Ground Engineering 10th Basements and Underground Structures Conference on Thursday this week.
The Basements conference aims to explore the procurement, design and delivery of underground spaces. It is for clients, main contractors, consultants, designers, specialist contractors and suppliers involved in small, medium or large scale projects. The event takes place on 4-5 October in London.
Joseph will draw on CGL’s temporary works design solution for a 10.5m deep basement at Prince of Wales Drive in Battersea. CGL designed an innovative buttress piled retaining wall for the excavation and basement construction at the large residential development, facilitating basement construction and saving over a month on the overall project programme.
The solution was analysed and designed using a combination of conventional and advanced 3D numerical FE soil-structure-interaction software. The solution has been received very positively by the industry with over 200 comments and likes to photographs shared on LinkedIn.
