Paul has 20 years of experience in the assessment and remediation of land affected by contamination as a regulator, consultant and contractor both in the United Kingdom and internationally. Paul’s expertise includes knowledge of the Contaminated Land Regulations (application and regulations), nuisance and the planning regime. He has provided consulting services to regulatory authorities, brownfield regeneration and industrial clients. Paul has participated in risk communication and perception exercises involving various stakeholders, including the public, regulators and Members of Parliament.

Paul has served as Chairman of the National Brownfield Forum (formerly the English Partnerships’ Brownfield Forum, Defra’s Contaminated Land Forum). The Forum brings together Westminster, Northern Ireland and Welsh governments and their expert agencies, along with regulators and industry organisations to progress issues affecting brownfield development and sustainability.
