CGL has been involved in the investigation and remediation of a site in Stratford for Alumno and contractors, HG Construction. This week marked a milestone in the development of the 445-room block of student accommodation.
The site was a former petrol station and there were particularly onerous sale conditions, related to environmental liabilities, as well as challenges associated with the local authority EHO role being undertaken by an external consultant. However, through detailed investigation, robust risk assessment, remediation, monitoring and verification with successful communication and negotiation, the scheme has had the contamination related planning conditions discharged.
The building has progressed apace to the 26th floor with all units reserved by Queen Mary University with a view to occupation in approximately 12 months.
The traditional topping out ceremony – this time with a live pianist – marked completion of the structural frame and recognised the efforts of the entire team for their achievements and progress to date.
