CGL is the leading specialist independent geotechnical and geoenvironmental consultancy in the UK, recognised by our industry peers to win ‘Consulting Firm of the Year’ by Ground Engineering magazine in 2016. As independent specialists, we can provide you with technically detailed analysis and expert recommendations unbiased by in-house interests.
CGL has seven offices in Godalming (Surrey), Harrogate, Exeter, London, Bristol, Southampton and Dublin to offer local specialist knowledge. From our regional bases, we work on projects nationwide – from the Scottish Highlands to the Cornish Peninsula. CGL has a track record of work in the residential, commercial, energy and infrastructure sectors.
CGL’s people are specialists in their chosen areas and are drawn from engineering, geological and environmental backgrounds. They provide a holistic approach to construction problems that delivers the cost-effective solutions for which we are known. 62% of our technical staff have Masters or PhD degrees and 40% are chartered professionals. This high level of qualification underpins our work, our capabilities and the convictions of our recommendations to clients.
CGL’s senior staff are heavily involved in delivering technical excellence to our clients. Our engineers are actively involved in developing the industry and are authors of technical papers on geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. They are also often invited to speak at conferences and are continuously updating their skills.
CGL started up in 1994 as Card Geotechnics Limited but that was only half the story as a lot of our work was in the emerging geoenvironmental market. So in 2011 we rebranded to the CGL you see today and we remain committed to developing geotechnical and geoenvironmental solutions for our many clients.
