We value our awards and accreditations, as well as our strong links with professional bodies including the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Geological Society and trade bodies such as the Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists and the Environmental Industries Commission.

Our recent awards not only recognise the talents and diversity of our people, but also reflect our aim to deliver value engineered solutions for our clients, meeting and exceeding their expectations.

Constructing Excellence South West Award Winners 2022

CGL’s Exeter team scooped two awards and was highly commended in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion category at the 2022 Constructing Excellence South West Awards. We’re proud to have won the People Development award for our CGL Career Path and a huge congratulations to Regional Manager Steve Morgan for winning the G4C Future Leader award.

We’re looking forward to the Constructing Excellence National Awards on the 18th November in London which brings together the eight regional winners in each of the 15 categories to celebrate the very best of the best.

2021 Ground Engineering Awards

CGL are proud winners at the 2021 Ground Engineering Awards for UK project with a geotechnical value of between £500k and £1M, for our project Peacocks Centre, Woking.

The project demonstrated exceptional design and construction, simple in concept but complex in technical detail, which was delivered innovatively, collaboratively with technical excellence at rocket pace during the Lockdown #3 period to virtually save the project for our client.

2019 Ground Engineering Awards

CGL are Ground Engineering Award Winners for UK Project with a Geotechnical Value up to £1M for our project 27 Commercial Road.  Company Chairman, Nick Langdon said:

We have been shortlisted seven times since 2011 in this category and have now won it three times.  This is great endorsement of the work that we do for our client’s design and construction teams by our peers.”

To meet with increasing client demand and as further validation of our capabilities CGL is now accredited to Gold (Level 3) with Constructiononline after previously holding Silver accreditation for many years. Gold accreditation incorporates all the benefits of Silver membership and includes, in addition, assessment of Environmental Management, Equality and Diversity and Quality Management policies and systems. 2018 NCE 100 Awards Winner

CGL is delighted to win Diversity Champion at the 2018 NCE100 awards for our work on gender equality that makes us an SME that used as a benchmark by others in this area. CGL was once again included in the industry’s top NCE100 companies as well as being shortlisted for the Talent Champion and Excellence in Urban Living categories – the latter reflecting our work to enable development on brownfield land and thought leadership in managing risks from contaminated land.

The GE awards are a leading showcase of technical excellence and achievement in ground engineering.

CGL’s entry for the UK Project with Geotechnical Value between £1-3m is made with Galliford Try and Furness Partnership, based on the temporary works design for the current mixed use development at Seymour Street in London.

The entry for UK Project with Geotechnical Value up to £1m is in partnership with Walsh for the geotechnical work under a 33-storey block of student accommodation at Miles Street in London.

CGL’s careful work for redevelopment of New Scotland Yard on The Broadway in London was also selected for Ground Investigation Project of the Year.

Joe Slattery, Chartered Senior Engineer at CGL is also a finalist for the Rising Star award recognising his excellent geotechnical capabilities and passion for the industry.

2017 Consultancy and Engineering Awards

CGL was shortlisted by the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) for two awards, Best UK Business Performance (SME) and Inclusion and Diversity Champion of the Year.

ACE sets the standards of practice for engineering consultants and the Consultancy and Engineering Awards are an annual showcase for the engineering and consultancy sector.

This is one of the most important awards for the industry and recognises CGL for delivering innovation, quality and value whilst maintaining growth. UK Project with a Geotechnical value between £1-3 million Award

CGL and Galliford Try jointly won the 2016 Ground Engineering Award for Best UK Project with a Geotechnical Value between £1-3m for our collaborative work on the new Subsea 7 headquarters in Sutton, Surrey.

The project demonstrates innovation, sustainability, health and safety and value engineering.

WISE CEO Charter Champion Award

Nick Langdon, CGL Chairman won the 2012 WISE CEO Charter Champion Award – acknowledging the importance of leadership in transforming organisational culture.

The WISE Awards are a celebration of the female talent that we have in the UK in science, engineering, technology and the built environment.

UKRC Achieving Award

The SET Fair Standard is the UK’s first industry award specifically aimed at achieving gender equality in the workplace. It gives public recognition for good practice and excellence in tackling gender inequality in the workplace.

In 2010 we were proud to be the first SME in the UK to achieve the UKRC’s SET Fair Standard Award, recognising us as leaders in addressing gender equality in the science, engineering, technology and the built environment sectors.

Best Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Project in the UK - GE Awards 2011

CGL’s work for the Guildford Radisson Hotel was voted the Best Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Project in the UK by Ground Engineering in 2011.

Our value engineering design saved £1m on the basement construction alone, while simplifying the overall design and enabled a shorter construction programme with a more sustainable use of resources giving a 20% overall saving on the project.
